Well, the thing about Freenet that's different from other peer-to-peer
systems is that you have to use an EXACT KEY, not just part of one. So
whereas in say Napster you can type "Beastie Boys" and get back
results like "Beastie_Boys-Body_Movin.mp3", in Freenet you have to
actually select the real key, which should be
"mp3/beastie boys/body movin".
Of course, that's harder than doing a search, but the Freenet
architecture isn't really well-suited to doing searches. It's built
for other things, which are Good.
What can you do if you want to find files? There are a couple of
options:
* Check one of the key indices listed here:
http://uts.cc.utexas.edu/~blanu/keyindex.html
A key index is a list of keys that people have inserted into
Freenet. It makes it easier to find stuff.
* Use one of the in-Freenet indices that have been
created. They have lists of cool stuff, and pointers to
other in-Freenet resources. Check these two out:

KSK@AARDVARK
* Guess the name of the key you're looking for. Freenet keys
are supposed to be guessable. They're based on key naming
standards, so if you're looking for a particular resource,
you should be able to guess what the key is. Check this
page:
http://www.freenetproject.org/index.php?page=key_const
...for the current key standard(s). Yeah, there's a lot of
work to do there. B-)
There's also a Web page that's in Freenet specifically designed for
searching for/inserting MP3s, but I can't find the key (damn!). It
uses Javascript to get the artist name & track name from you, and then
submits to FProxy. It's nice because you don't have to remember the
key standard.
I'll try and dig it up and pass it along to you.
