I suppose so. With the proper apsfilter set, it must be possible to filter 
the PDF files as it is done for the PS files and send them direcly to the 
printer filter with the correct options defined. 

I'll try to see how to proceed and come with a solution.

What do you mean by cross-platform ? On unix system, the printing is based on 
postscript and filters, and everything can be scripted. On unix systems, the 
very same tricks should work. 

On other systems (Windows or Macs) things are not that easy ! I don't know.
