Great work takes time. Shortly after the posting I quoted, Minoru, with
a number of different partners from the community, submitted two
proposals for funding that covered much of the suggested work. One of
them was accepted (Spirit) and the other was turned down, but the design
from this second proposal was publicly released as DocScope
(http://www.openhealth.com/docscope). Tim Cook, who was with Minoru at
the time, was later able to get private funding in the U.S. for FreePM
developments similar in concept. I'm not sure how or if DocScope
influenced OIO, but it is in the same family architecturally.
Even though these events happened within a few months of this posting,
the funding world moves slowly and we were unable to start Spirit until
January this year with the web services just coming on line this month.
Volunteers can react immediately, but no-one picked up and ran with this
ball.
So, I guess I feel that there is a link between that message from 18
months ago right to the present thread and it shows progress on the
goals. It's just a fact of the world that getting funding for an idea,
especially an advanced idea, can take a long time. Even the message I
quoted was a summary of previous conversations on the openhealth list,
so the thread of concepts is even older.
