Hi

This is with respect to authenticating Wireless LAN (WLAN) users against
Radius. Related queries and their answers have been posted on this list
before, hence I have this query.

In the process of authenticating a WLAN user, the communication between
WLAN laptop and Access point (AP) is EAP and that between Access Point
and Radius server is of-course Radius. The AP encapsulates the EAP
payload into the EAP-Message attribute in Radius for the Radius server
to authenticate the user.

The user gets an IP address from a DHCP server and this is done post
authentication. Is there any mechanism to get the MAC address of the
user laptop in the Radius request from the AP? Is there any avp for
this? If the user already has an IP assigned, can the RADIUS server get
this?

I would be grateful if anybody has any ideas on this.

Thanks,
Anchal
