Subject: Help for a configuration.
From: "Pierluigi Frullani" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi all,
I need some hints for a configuration.
I've read trough the docs but maybe for my "stupidity" I' m unable to
realize a particular configuration.
What I need to realize is an authentication scheme based on username for
access and particular value pair attribute, and on a group for other
attribute.I've realized this using the "username@group" syntax and it works, but i
wouldprefer the syntax "username" only.
I' ve only a NAS that is connected by multiple kind of users, and they have
different attribute, that could be grouped.
So i need to use some "mangle" that could be in the user section and route
theprocess to get the return VP in another section of the config files.

How can I do this ?
P.S. Hope you can understand what I wrote, because is unclear also to me :)
Pigi

Uh, why? What went wrong? What didn't work?

Without more information, it's impossible for us to *fix* the
problem, to prevent other people from having the same problem.

It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to get any server installed
and working somewhat.

There isn't much in the way of documentation. Many of the
configuration options are documented ONLY in the comments in the
configuration file.

Search the list archives for CHAP and SQL. That may help.

Uh, no. The dictionary doesn't have DEFAULT's, and doesn't have
operators.

No, I don't think that will help.

At this point, deleting everything you've installed, and installing
the last CVS snapshot on a clean system.

The dictionary change works for me on a clean install, so I have no
clue what's different on your system.

Alan,

Thanks so much, everythings fine now it was an mistake on my part I didn't
realize the users file was a granular as it is and I had a blank line with
tabs that was causing the issue. It's always the easiest answer that you
overlook in life isn't it :)

The dictionary file in the distribution will have changed, and it
will be included in the next snapshot, and in the next release.

  It doesn't matter.

The number should be different from the other Auth-Type values.

I've updated the dictionary in CVS, and for the cases where I
*could* reproduce your problem, updating the dictionary fixes it.

examples that one can see how the digest works?

The PAM RADIUS authentication module might be what you are looking
for.

http://www.freeradius.org/pam_radius_auth

The module allows systems that support PAM to become RADIUS clients
for password authentication.

No, and I'm not sure it would help much. H(A1) depends on the user
name and the realm, too.

Still, it should be too hard to add. Add another attribute
Digest-Hash-A1. In the module, try to find that attribute, and if so,
use it's string value, instead of create H(A1).

It's probably less than 10 lines of code...

Hmm... give me a few minutes, or grab the snapshot from tonight, and
see 'doc/rlm_digest'

I have great difficulties to make FreeRADUIS work with EAP/MD5 and WinXP
Supplicant.
If anybody succeeded to use EAP/MD5 (even not with XP Supplicant) can you
mail me the
radius configuration files (clients.conf, radiusd.conf, users and maybe
others if they are
relevant)

At first thnx. 2 all. I finally made it.

Everything is now running fine. I hope. It's not productive in the moment we
will start tomorow 11 AM MET to switch it productive.

Another Question:
I've put some Nat related Parameters in the radgroupreply table. this is
three times the same Attribute with a different value. If I check, the
radius server only returns the last value. If I put the same lines for every
user inside the radreply everything is working fine. I'd like to minimize
the data by putting redundant data only once in the group file. What was my
error?
What do you need to answer this question. Its a Vendor specific attribute.
In GNU Radius I've found the possibility to declare Attributes additive or
not in the dictionary file. Here I do not see somthing alike. The Attribute
is something like Bintec-IpNatPresetTable or so.

Really I can not tell you anymore this was more somthing like calling help
if you are drowning.

In fact there is nothing to fix but the documentation. ;-)
I just didn't make it through the config file. Perhaps its all too simple.

Anyway after todays 3 or 4 Hours everything was working like I wanted it.
just answering packets was not what I wanted to do. It was about this
scenario with the Bintec X4000 and radius based dialout routes.

But not all! That was my prob.

I did it and so we finally made it perhaps sombody should put some work in
the interesting sections in the config.
Perhaps I can put my own humble part in this puzzle.
I am now very much relieved that everything is fine now.

Thanks a lot. It's very nice to know you are not alone.

'man 5 users'. See the 'operator' field in the SQL schema, you
probably want '+=', instead of '='.

FreeRADIUS lets you specify that on a per-attribute basis, every
time it sees the attribute.

Post what you did to make it work, and it can be included in the
sample configs.

OK, so why is it trying to build in 'libltdl', when you've obviously
told it not to use the libltdl shipped with the system?

What were your 'configure' options? What is the value of
LIBLTDLPATH, in Make.inc?

I ran into the same issue here ... All I'm passing to configure is
"--with-rlm-sql-postgresql-include-dir=/usr/include/pgsql" (no quotes of
course)

Looks like the Makefile for libltdl isn't being created. If I go into
the libltdl and run configure with "--enable-ltdl-install" and then make
it, the rest of the make for freeradius goes well.
