Which breaks it for all other platforms... That's not much of a problem. The CVS head has provisions for using EXEEXT, which is ".exe" on CYGWIN, and blank on every other platform. I'll commit some related patches which should help for cygwin, and *won't* break other platforms. Most of the other patches have been in the CVS head for a month or two, and therefore will be included in 1.0.0. Please try the next pre-release, which should help.
