  Can you post the *complete* debug log?  So far, you've been posting
the final reject message.  That's nice, but it doesn't tell us what
else is going wrong.

  No.  Many people are storing clear-text passwords in LDAP and doing
MS-CHAP authentication.  It works, and it has worked for many years
now.

  The issue is elsewhere.  Please post the entire debug log.  Odds are
that once you do that, the solution will be straightforward.
