Yep, you were right, there must be some corruption or crap on the Fedora system I was using as a test client. I installed 1.1.6 on a Suse box I have, copied exactly the same raddb onto it, and radtest worked first time. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? See http://www.freeradius.org/list/users.html
