Maybe if there was a way to break it down into a smaller task, such as a valuable part of what would be the complete solution could be something. As the mentor for the project, I will need to coordinate the work and make sure students will be able to get their work done. I wouldn't want a student to apply on something thinking it might not be that bad and realize later that it's much harder than expected. I might be able to find some students with C programming skills, but there aren't that many in universities today. Java is what they teach now, and sometimes people take C/C++ classes. There are some self-taught programmers that we can find to do nice tasks. However, for the rest of the "normal" students, we might want to find easier introductory-level tasks.
