I have just modified the code such that it always enables the connection type 
to be "LAN" if RemoteFX is enabled, such that we can finely tune performance 
flags for a RemoteFX session. I have also added a couple of extra command line 
options for performance flags:

--disable-wallpaper
--disable-full-window-drag
--disable-menu-animations
--disable-theming

etc

I just connected to an RDSH setup using RemoteFX and -x m. I can easily see why 
someone would be interested in using such a combination of performance flags: 
I'm pretty sure that using -x m with --rfx reduces significantly the amount of 
bandwidth used for the session.
