To fix this you can either use LD_LIBRARY_PATH, update /etc/ld.so.conf or adapt cmake to build with the installation RPATH (have a look for CMAKE_BUILD_WITH_INSTALL_RPATH in the main CMakeLists.txt). http://www.cmake.org/Wiki/CMake_RPATH_handling might help for the third possibility.
