I've used xfreerdp for at least 10 years to manage Windows machines from my Linux workstation.
We just stood up a VM running Windows Server 2022. It has Office 2016 installed. Whenever I perform a copy/paste action involving an Office app such as Excel in an RDP session to the Server 2022 VM, and any app in another RDP session to another Windows VM, the Office app on the 2022 VM becomes unresponsive. Eventually I get a modal notice from the app: "Waiting for another application to complete an OLE action". I have to force-close the Office app or the 2022 RDP session to clear the condition. I am running freerdp v2.11.2 on Fedora 40. To test, I stood up a test Server 2022 VM, not joined to our domain so not getting settings from GPO, not getting any security software that may interfere with normal clipboard action. Installed only Windows, Office 2016. Fully patched both. Tried with both 32-bit and 64-bit Office 2016. Same result in all cases. My xfreerdp command: xfreerdp /size:2880x1620 /scale:100 /scale-desktop:150 /async-update /audio-mode:1 +auto-reconnect /bpp:16 /dynamic-resolution /gdi:hw /rfx /network:auto +window-drag /sec:rdp:off /cert:ignore /v:<host FQDN> /u:<username> /d:<domain NetBIOS name> Copy/paste between non-Office apps across RDP sessions is fine. Copy/paste between my workstation and the 2022 VM RDP session is fine. No difference if I add any of these: +clipboard /clipboard /clipboard:use-selection:CLIPBOARD /clipboard:use-selection:PRIMARY Also tested with freerdp v3.5.1, but copy/paste doesn't work -at all- across sessions with that version.
