Hi Chris,

they hypointense WM on the T1 (typically also hyperintense on a T2). Unfortunately they are hard to distinguish from partial voluming on the walls of the ventricle and from the more superior regions of the caudate, unless you hae multispectral data (ideally a FLAIR).
