Thanks for the information.  Future releases of freesurfer will be built
against the static libexpat library, so the shared lib problem wont be
encountered again.

The X11 problem you encountered might be due to the fact that Leopard is
now based on Xorg X11, whereas Tiger was based on Xfree86 X11, which is
a different codebase entirely.  Apple anticipates some growing pains
from this switch (I certain have encountered a number). but it is
supposed to be better longterm.
