My company wrote a g729/g723 codec for CallWeaver last year completely independently of the Readytechnology codec. It is fully functional but was never publicly announced (although is publicly available) due to discussion on CallWeaver lists indicating it probably wouldn't be accepted.
We purchased a redist license for the Intel libraries and verified with Intel that said libraries could be redistributed free as in beer. Overview This software provides G.729 and G.723.1 codecs for Callweaver based on version 5.1 of the Integrated Performance Primitives library provided by Intel. The codecs are implemented as a thin wrapper around Intel's Unified Speech Codec Interface (USC) sample for IPP. This allows codecs exposed by the USC interface to be easily adapted for use by Callweaver. The Makefile allows for either static or dynamic linking to the appropriate IPP libraries at run time to handle different architectures without recompiling. The code can be found at http://www.zettaserve.com/default.asp?catid=78 and if anyone wants to adapt it for use with FreeSwitch please feel free. I am not a coder and so have no idea how hard or easy it may be to adapt for use by FreeSwitch, however I do know that our codec is much easier to compile than the Readytechnology codec. It was developed and tested on OpenBSD 4.0 and is known to work on Linux. Of course the user is responsible for any applicable codec licensing. We do not provide binaries.
