I have an Asterisk-1.8 system running as my secondary phone system, scheduled
to become the primary soon. Asterisk-1.8 was compiled from sources, and I may
replace it with 1.10 soon.

I've been reading a bit on Asterisk lately but mostly about dialplans, not
transcoding or recording. With a hint or two regarding setting up
transcoding/recording for a channel I could help test. I'm no stranger to
tweaking/compiling/debugging code, but if you're looking for timely testing,
I'm not the guy. Would love to contribute what I can though.
