On Monday I installed a new IC-9100 in the shack. This Icom radio has a
built-in soundcard/USB interface. One of the first things I wanted to try
is catching some CODEC2 traffic. I loaded up the Windows install of FreeDV
on Windows 7 - 64 and have been looking for signals.

My antenna is modest (a tuned 110' doublet - 160-6m) and my noise floor is
high. I just haven't caught anyone on the lower bands at night.

On the way into the office this morning I stopped and flipped on the
receiver at 14.236 -- and heard something. So I fired up the computer and
started FreeDV <http://freedv.org>.

The signals were weak, but here's what I got

1650Z 14.236 S3-5 (a little higher with pre-amp)
K0PFX and N4JS
N4JS was decoding a bit better.
Not solid copy, but picked out tidbits both voice and ID text.

I am in CN87uu

The IC-9100 needs to have incoming audio set at '1-3' (It's very hot audio)
I still need to figure out PTT for this setup.

Was able to use the narrow roofing filter (and USB Digital) to narrow the
sampled spectrum

Let the fun begin :)
