David and group,

I see on the David's blog (Robustness 2 or 3?) some mention of a limit on PAPR 
(peak to average power) because of overheating of the radio.  The Elecraft K3 
100 watt version that I have is rated at full power, key down, for 10 minutes.  
I've tested it a bit and find that the fans do come on, but that the peak PA 
temperature does not climb above a reasonable value.  

I'd hate to see DV crippled by catering to radios that overstate their power.  
If DV catches on, then they'll come 'round.  The K3 shows that it is possible.
