I may be wrong but according the AVR documentation, the AT91SAM9XE is
based on the ARM926EJ-S, which is a ATM9 with DSP instruction set ...
but without FPU (or VPU in ARM-speak)?

- propably only achievable for big bu$ine$$...
But an ARM microcontroller (Ti Stellaris series) will be fine,
too. It can run the reference implementation of codec2 without
architectural optimization, as it has a SP-floatpoint unit, too...
For $ 12,99 , it's worth a try...
As most tools are architecture-independent, you can use your
Raspberry Pi for programming it... xD
