Simon is correct. A well-managed Linux distribution doesn't want you to 
provide your own versions of libraries, they would like the package to 
use theirs. This is a good idea for any number of technical and process 
reasons.

This is going to be a problem if a distribution has an old version of 
wxWidgets and no newer experimental package.
