I tried that and rebooting... It seems like when I click start is when
FreeDV initializes the serial port, when it does it seems to bring both RTS
and DTS up, which is bad because I've got both connected through diodes (to
use +V). Unlike FLDigi, in FreeDV I can only choose RTS or DTS, not both.
Not that I need both but when I try to monitor the serial port with
statserial and click the PTT button, only the selected one is toggled...
Which means one of the two are always up.

Is it possible that FreeDV pay attention to the +V checkboxes for both RTS
and DTS and make sure after initializing the serial port that both are set
to the opposite of the setting until the PTT button is pressed?
