I disagree !

I beleive you will get left behind in history with that thinking.

To have codec2 FreeDV catch on and displace other digital audio and data modes, it needs to compete .

And it cannot compete with old ideas and ways.

At some point, you need to draw a line with everything being open source.

You are using a AMD or Intel CPU to compile, are you not ? Why dont you go and get some sand from the beach, make some wafers and make your own CPU. Etc.   Where do you draw the line?
