I've fixed the permissions on all the Rx files mentioned below.

Bill mentioned interest in a VHF/UHF multi-channel system.

But, as I see it the "hole" in the communications landscape here in Australia

and elsewhere overseas is, where cell-phone AND VHF&UHF comms are unavailable.

AND satellite is way too expensive, and frankly, no fun.

HF offers an alternative. BUT, who is going to do the relay when two stations 
here in

western NSW cannot communicate but are both S9+ on 20m in New Zealand or in 
Perth WA?

This is the point!

"Digital Voice" makes a repeater possible, why:

1) Is the signal (HF SSB) valid?                     presence of specific to 
this mode, sync

2) Does the signal want to be repeated?       embedded characters in the data

Yes, I know I bang on with this...
