Hi Mooneer:

I find the activity days to be very helpful. I am working on my own
implementation of the CODECs and modems. This work is made much easier (and
more satisfying) when you have real activity impacted by real noise to test
receivers/decoders. Having a time/place where there is a higher probability of
hearing a transmission is nice.

This analogy isn’t perfect, but something to consider. In the US we have the
daily W1AW bulletins in a variety of modes (CW, RTTY, PSK31, MFSK16, etc.) on a
lot of bands. This is a great resource for people learning/testing the modes
that are supported. I’m not trying to be negative about these modes, but they
aren’t exactly the leading edge of the radio hobby. It would be very cool if
there were similar scheduled bulletins using a wider range of modern
modulations/encodings for people who are developing systems.

Other similarly useful resources: WWV for testing AM receivers on HF,
*ECHOTEST* on the EchoLink system and PARROT on the DMR system.
