Yes, it's possible to get invoice numbers in order. However, that seemingly
small change in the functionality has big implications to the design on the
backend. Maybe the best thing to do is use another field to keep an
"external" invoice ID.

Out of the box, the checkout process is skewed to credit cards, but COD is
entirely possible now.

This is easy to deal with now. You only need to edit the address functions.
