Hi Kent,

I hope you didn't call him Wiener since his surname is Winer...Isn't Wiener
a brand of sausage? US Citizens?, maybe that's why you got no reply?! ;-)

Ironic since he says at Scripting.com today:

"Open source is cool, has a place, always has. Want to set a standard? It's
a good idea to release some source so people can deploy without fear. And if
you're on Unix where previously the only way to integrate was at the source
level, consider using the new connective glue, SOAP or XML-RPC, to integrate
without combining code bases."

I'm sure he's a pretty busy bloke, keep hassling him.

I understand your saying that as using XML as you're planning is obviously
the way to go but I was looking at the immediate issue of allowing
designers/clients access to their own configuration settings which is pretty
big in our small world (he says pulling up his short pants!). I realised
that even though Leon does suggest that designers can figure PHP (print(),
etc.), I have to say many are not even too HTML aware but XML is somewhat
more graspable than the PHP in language/screeninfo/global.

Also, this project; xtree at http://www.subpop.com/~dietricha/ was
interesting in illustrating how these config files could be edited (His use
of this in the subpop site is interesting as well
http://dietrich.ganx4.com/site_cms.php . You may also be interested in his
SOAP project http://dietrich.ganx4.com/soapx4/ )

On another note in your "Why did Linux Yen Fail?":

"Lack of FreeTrade expert. My lack of time to develop a network of FreeTrade
expert has a lot of customers hanging, waiting for someone to help setup an
e-commerce website for them. I did try to write a tutorial to increase
FreeTrade knowledgeable people, but I ran out of time."

Did anyone else read this and go "Me, me I was here!!". Depressing to read
that as I'd have put my hand up! Good article, I'm sure many empathised with
the points mentioned...
