it's working! I will integrate the stuff back in and
hope to have something by the weekend at latest.
The problem was that mp1e expects the stdin to be closed.
I don't know if this is standard procedure. Most probably
this was all caused by my unixish virginity -- which I
hopefully have lost now ;-)
