No. They talk via pipe and for bmovl2 over shared memory.

Again no. I would prefer a xine plugin with two shared memory segments
and freevo will update one when the other is displayed.

It would be better if vdr wouldn't display the osd itself. But the
question is: do we need the xine osd at all?
