Hello people @devel :)

First of all, thanks for your interface and your work in making it more
configurable, more powerful, more free :-)
Freevo is helping us in our project made by a team of people
coming from different places and backgrounds.

I am using a mini-itx box with freevo and a touchscreen
to create a device that will be included as a module in a installation
project for the new gynecology museum in Vienna, Austria.

The actual project is an installation construction made of different
modules which will present tools, documents and material regarding the
gynecology studies and evolutions in the medicine.
5 modules of it will consist of touchscreen interface giving access to a
database of video files ( a simple dir on the filesystem in this case )
to show archived material of gynecological interest. :-)

The company doing the project for the museum is a company from Graz for
which I work that is specialized in building and "inventing" artistic
and technological environment.

Ofcourse I choose to use Linux ( in this case gentoo ) and in particular
freevo for the purpose of the museum installation.
What is requested is a device showing a menu with video files
listed to be selected by a simple touch on the title or thumbnail.
And nothing more than that.

I used freevo and xine for the video reproduction of mpeg2 files.
took away the menus plugin not needed ( we only need video ).
At this point i was missing an interface to the touchscreen, like the
mouse ( event ) device and the possibility to skip at boot time the
first menu, to go directly to the video directory listing.
Antont took care of creating the event plugin and the config option to
skip the first menu and now we have a working freevo with a touchscreen
device as interface, working wonderfully :)

Antont published his patches:

http://studio.kyperjokki.fi/engine/FreevoPointerInput
http://studio.kyperjokki.fi/engine/FreevoMenuConfig

and the prototype is working perfectly, but we will need to install and
update more devices. Waiting for a future release of freevo, would be
great to obtain the patches in the cvs version so to be able to easily
manage the installations and produce more boxes :))

Please get in contact with us and specially with antont for the
programming of the plugins.
It would be great to have news about this topic and the possibility to
use freevo for different purpose interfaces :)

thanks,
alex
