It seems that the ivtv-fb modules does not support mmap so it doesn't
support SDL or directfb, which is a shame.
However, I have got it to work using the ivtv-xdriver and setting the
display to use "xv", works quite well TV quality is fine.
The only problem is that it is a bit too demanding for slower machines
such as a Pentium III 733MHz. TV is no problem but movies don't run
smoothly.
You should still be able to spit mpeg2 straight to the card & have the
card do all the work I think. The X display layer and the video layer
appear to be completely separate.
(The ideal would probably be an Xvmc driver for the X display I guess).

Thanks Phil,
Don't think that it is quite that easy as I've stores the DVDs as iso
images which I can mount then I would need to decode the VOBs then I
could stream the mpeg stream directly to the video out device. At the
moment I'm not sure what Linux tools are about to decode VOBs and how I
would configure freevo to do this.
From your previous messages , it seems that you have used a Matrox G400
and know quite a bit about setting this card up. Would you be able to
outline the freevo configuration that you have used, directfb, sdl, etc.
It doesn't really matter if I use the ivtv frame buffer or the Matrox tv
out on the P3 machine. I really want this machine for testing new
releases of freevo and, possibly contributing to the development of freevo.
Tried googleing for the Xvmc driver but can't find any useful
information, probable need a better search...

Duncan
