There are pros and cons using it. The main drawback is the number of emails it generates. The pros IMHO outweigh the cons. First It's easy to miss a bug report in the mailing list Second, It's very easy to forget, unless something is done straight away. Thirdly, the bug reporting system is open so everybody can report bugs there Fourthly, it show the "world" the progress that is being made.Good if there is a lot of activity.
