Yes, it works correctly for me.  Using RPMs from Fedora Extras
python-sqlite2-2.3.2-2 and sqlite-3.3.6-2.   I also tried on a system
with pysqlite 2.3.2 and sqlite 3.3.3 and it works.

What happens when you use sqlite directly?  Just do 'sqlite3 foo.db' at
the command line, and you can paste the sql into it interactively.

I also thought about that test and did the attached test which works correctly, so the problem seems to be pysqlite (strange as I have the same version). I opened a bug in the pysqlite bugtracker.
