As soon as I get the chance, I'll finish tweaking the BASH installer script
I've been working on for Freevo in Kubuntu 7.10. It handles adding the proper
repositories, fetching dependencies, compiling and installing other deps,
installing PyLirc & Kaa stuff, installing Freevo itself, adding appropriate
directories, placing a basic config file, placing an autologon X-session file
and fixing user permissions. The only thing the user need do is create the
user "freevo" before running the script and doing "freevo setup" and "freevo
cache" as user "freevo" afterward.

For those may not know, the autologon X-session file is for setting up the
"freevo" user to automagically log on at system boot and for going in to
Freevo. Part of this requires user intervention the first time around by
selecting "Freevo session" for the "freevo" user from the Sessions menu before
setting up autologon.

Before it gets said, I know Kubuntu is a Debian variant and files should be
placed the Debian way but I've had more success installing / running from the
tarballs than I ever did with a DEB package. Besides, with my tarball and a
Kubuntu DVD, I can have a complete media center built, OS installed & updated,
Freevo & it's deps installed and have the whole thing ready to run in just
under 2 hours. Scripting... It's a good thing!

Look for a tarballed installer in the next few days.
