José María and Freevo's friends,
the
project PyAMF could be a interesting Python source to reach (partial)
support for RTMP streaming.

AMF is the binary format in the lowest
level of the RTMP protocol.

http://wiki.gnashdev.org/RTMP/AMF/SOL

Seemingly, PyAMF has a mature
performace

however, the pyamf.org website seems to
be down !!!!!!

Hi,

This getiplayer is very interesting.. It'd be very nice to strip out the part
that does the actual downloading of the rtmp given a url.

I'll try to talk to the developer.

Hi Jose María,
my patch for the rtve plugin deals only with small changes in the html format
of the RTVE's pages.

However, I have just checked your assertion regarding of the change to the RTMP
transport protocol. For instance,

http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/player/324636.xml

OK, ... it is not only a particular issue for the rtve plugin. Therefore, any
suggestion is welcome.

Now, I am at work. A quick review in the web gives only a couple of first
directions to get open sources:
XBMC as rtmp client, see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Messaging_Protocol

or may be http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/

Again, any suggestion is welcome ...

JP

Hi,

Have you noticed that recently they changed the streaming tecnology? They used
to use flv over http and now they have changed it to rtmp. As far as I know
there is no client for linux (besides the official flash player) capable of
handling such transport.

Have you been able to workaround that?
