Freevo 1 it should be easy, Freevo 1 uses mplayer (or xine depending on 
your config) to play back files. To configure it you simply need to 
ensure the correct command line is sent, if you can run it from the 
command line today then you should be able to use it from within freevo.

Check out the MPLAYER_VO_DEV option in local_conf.py you should be able 
to set it there. You can also tweak args based on the file type so it 
should be possible to only use VDPAU for hd and normal xvmc for mpeg2.
