Hi,

right now, beacon scans the whole directory tree it monitors and adds an
inotify connection for each directory. This is kind of stupid for setup
where nothing happened between stopping the maschine and booting it
again. Beacon will check everything and re-adds the inotify listener.

Maybe it is a good idea to switch to fanotify which enables monitoring
whole mount points. With fanotify beacon could just assume that the
filesystem is still up to date (config option) and monitors everything
that happens. It would drop all events that belong to files not in the
media dir.

What do you think of that idea? And could someone add this to beacon?

Regards,

Dischi
