Seems everything is allright. But still when I want to record mencoder is used (at least that's what the logs say.)
An other thing I've found out is that thought the web and server processes are listed as running, this is not the case. I have to manually start them though I have the start up scripts in my init.d folder. So I start them and everything seems allright but nothing gives. When I reboot my computer I can no longer login via the browser and in my /temp/freevo folder I see a different weblog (72). So there must be definitaly be something wrong with these 2 services.
I'm using the Mandrake rpms. Has anybody else got them working or should I try compiling from cvs?

Thanks, I checked and found several copies, I removed them all but nothing gives. Because Rob talked about running the recordserver only as roor and I had some difficulty in getting the thing op and running I uninstalled freevo completely, removed all folders and files and did a clean install. That gave me the following error when I tried ro record:

It is.
I checked the recordserver IP, it's localhost, thats' ok. Port is 18001, ok to. That's all I can think of to check

freevo looks for local_conf.py in several places. make sure you don't have multiple copies running around. try this as root:
updatedb; locate local_conf.py
