At the moment I've written an external record command which amongst other things replaces the colon(s) with underscore(s), and this allows

HH:MM:SS format may be there for a good reason and that changing it may break things, but for what its worth it would be great if someone would
Nothing relies on that format, its ok to change it, in fact there is a config variable to do so. :)
Change TV_RECORDFILE_MASK in your local_conf.py, it defaults to '%%m-%%d %%H:%%M %(progname)s - %(title)s', you may remove the ':' or reformat it how you wish. The %% variables need to be valid for strftime.
