I have wasted an entire day trying to make this work.

I'm running a fresh install of mandrake 10 official, with kernel 2.6.3.

I even have back up directories of a working 1.5 pre1, and 1.4 from mandrake
9.2/2.4. Same thing

I install freevo (any version), including the quick download method.

When I type ./freevo I get

Inconsistency detected by ld.so: rtld.c: 1175: dl_main: Assertion
`_rtld_local._dl_rtld_map.l_prev->l_next == _rtld_local._dl_rtld_map.l_next'
failed!

I think this is actually a bug in glibc that is triggered by the use of LD_PRELOAD in the freevo runtime to load specific dlls from the runtime directory. It should've worked when you did a full install, so I'm not sure exactly what's going on.

It isn't real easy for me to troubleshoot this since I'm running RH9 with kernel 2.4, so I've just purchased VMware for Linux so I can install Mandrake 10 without messing around with new partitions and rebooting.

Does 2.6.3 come with Mandrake 10? Have you done any other custom installations/upgrades of it (I know you wrote that you haven't, but I want to make sure)?
