Hi all,

I live in non-latin1 country and I'm constantly fighting with correct character set of subtitles - ISO-8859-2, CP1250 etc. I thought about writing a detection plugin for freevo, but now there is a more elegant way:

1) You need to install the character set analyser tool - enca (http://trific.ath.cx/software/enca/).

2) Install latest version of mplayer (note: it does not work with 1.0-pre5 on my gentoo, I had to use the CVS version)

3) add argument -subcp enca:xx:yyyy to mplayer arguments list on your freevo conf file or to the mplayer config file, where
xx is your country (cs, pl etc.)
and yyyy is the default character set used when recognition fails, in my case cp1250

Try and enjoy, works great!
