lirc_ic2 should work from the packages, but i personaly don't use lirc_ic2
i also have a capturing card there was no patching needed for using that, just 
lirc_serial is quite a hassle

unfortunatly i can not help you with lirc_ic2
(dit you try "modprobe i2c_sensor"), this one should activate the ic2 stuff
