I solved this. I made an assumption that the kernel drivers (read i2c, etc.) would detect the hauppagge 350 card, since it showed up with a pci card query. Every FAQ I found never mentioned the ivtv installs. This one did:
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/printer-friendly.php I guess I got stuck on installing the remote first, and not getting the video to work properly, otherwise I think I might have solved my problem without ever knowing I had one. Once the firmware and related ivtv installs were loaded, it worked great. -m -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of HaJo Schatz Sent: Thursday, January 20, 2005 1:11 AM To: freevo-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Freevo-users] Lirc just not working On Thu, January 20, 2005 2:44, Karl Lattimer said: > LIRC 0.7 is the only version that currently works with 2.6 kernels > > Use the LIRC tarball the RPM is only built with support for irman, > also it doesn't actually work (in my past experience) (Latest and latest-1) LIRC 0.7 RPM from ATRPMs, sir-module, together with FC3 kernel 2.6.9 and 2.6.10 no problems over here. But: >>irrecord: could not open /dev/lirc >>irrecord: default_init(): No such device >>irrecord: could not init hardware (lircd running ? --> close it, check >>permissions) for my sir-module, lirc0 instead of lirc is used. Hence I have to start lircd with "-d /dev/lirc0" or do a ln -s /dev/lirc0 /dev/lirc (This is out of my head, I'm not in front of a Linux machine right now. So forgive me if there are errors in the detail...). Same with irrecord, I had to point it to /dev/lirc0 instead. -- HaJo Schatz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.HaJo.Net PGP-Key: http://www.hajo.net/hajonet/keys/pgpkey_hajo.txt ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases.
