My first thought is a bug in the driver. Matrox has a binary driver
wich may or may not help you and depending on the xorg version you can
try upgrading/downgrading xorg. I saw a post on the ubuntuforum about
xorg 7.1.1 having the problem. not sure which version you a using
though.
