" I suppose it could be picking up remnants of 1.5.4; maybe I should purge freevo and re-install?" It appears to have been an upgrade issue. When I upgraded Freevo to the 1.6.0 packages, it didn't pull in elementtree as a dependency, nor does it appear to have installed correctly. I commented out the IVTV settings in local_conf.py, then removed and re-installed Freevo, and now it's working. I guess a "nice to have feature" would be a -v (version) switch for freevo.
