Unfortunately no, this won't be possible. Well, it will be possible technically, but not practical. It would be quite computationally expensive (for various reasons). So background animations will have to be handled a different way, by fading in/out or moving certain elements on the canvas, such as in the kaa-menu-demo.avi example (the moving titles at the top).
