I haven't set any particular timeout. Generally if a port is closed, attempting to connect to it immediately returns an error.
Choosing "MusicIP Mix" on a playlist will produce a new mix based on the songs in that playlist. I'm not sure if this is exactly the same as a mood, but it probably is.
