Check that the plugin is active: run

$ freevo plugins -l | grep imdb

and check the output, it should be

video.imdb (active) You can add IMDB information for video i...

If the text "(active)" is missing, then the plugin is not activated.

Also check the logs when you start up freevo, there might be an error
message related to the imdb plugin.

And also I noticed that the plugin doesn't appear, if an fxd file for that
movie already exists.
