Hi All,

For some time I have been using dvbstreamer/livepause to watch TV and
I use either VLC or mplayer to watch
the stream.

I am having a lot of issues with micro pauses and block playback,
especially after 5 minutes or so from changing channels
(i.e a new livepause buffer) the effect is more noticeable with
mplayer than VLC but still an issue .

It seems the pauses co-inside with disk activity.

That makes senses, as livepause is not being able to write/read from the
disk faster enough to supply vlc/mplayer.

Does anyone know what I can do to improve this? I have played around
with livepause buffer sizes and mplayer cache, but to little effect.

There are 2 ways round this one expensive, one cheap. Either
1. Buy a faster harddisk (expensive)
2. Stop the other disk activity while you are watching TV. Do you have
yum/apt update happening while you are watching TV?

Cheers

3. Buy or borrow a second hard drive. Should be cheaper than trying to get a faster drive if you have the space. Use it solely for your livepause buffer and recorded TV.
