sorry, the part you asked about was not really finished as you wrote your mail. Take a look at the shorewall package now. It now allows the user to strip the configuration files and/or (depending on the users requirements) the shared files. From about 20-30 production setups of shorewall I saw in the past few years, only in one setup some changes have been made to /usr/share/shorewall files. For my experience it makes more sense to individually have the option to strip only /etc/shorewall and/or /usr/share/shorewall. For the most setups it will be clever to stip /usr/share/shorewall but maybe not strip /etc/shorewall (if enough space is available). That's why I changed the defaults to reflect that. Please tell me if you disagree. I am now finally happy with the state of shorewall (as long as no bug will be discovered) and will not touch the trunk version anymore. You told me privately, that you want to include the latest release candidate in trunk, so please go ahead. :) My last open job for shorewall will be to merge the last changes to the branches version of shorewall to have that in the same style with the same functions. But please don't update the branch version of shorewall to the release candidate version you want to include in trunk. The next freewrt release should have the latest stable shorewall included. bye, Ralph _______________________________________________ freewrt-developers mailing list [email protected] https://www.freewrt.org/lists/listinfo/freewrt-developers
