Hello FreeWRT-Userlist,
I have started to work two years ago with opensource-firmware on my Linksys WRT54GS - first a installed OpenWRT but now it's DDWRT installed. This device is in general not so bad, but now I search a solution to replace my Linux NAS-Fileserver and a solution to provide a printserver within my local area network.

Therefore my questions to FreeWRT and the WL-500g Premium router. How are your experience with this combination?

The WL-500g Premium router provides two USB-connectors for USB-devices. Is it really possible to connect one 80GB-3,5" Harddisk in a external USB2.0-enclosure and a color inkjet printer on the second.

The 80GB-Harddisk should be accessible by NFS (from a Linux-Desktop) and by Samba from my Windows XP-home notebook.

The typ of the printer is CANON Pixma iP4000. The printer is supported by the alternativ driver from turboprint.de and it works fine with the local-cups-configuration. Is it possible to install a raw-printer-queue with cups on the WL-500g Premium router (with FreeWRT of course) and then to use the local-drivers on the Linux-desktop and the Windows XP-home notebook? The cups-config is not tested yet on my Linux-Desktop, I have to reconfigure my setup...but his should work...any concerns??

Thank you for your feedback. Best regards, Hrvoje
